City Dock boat landing closing for repairs after July 4 holiday
The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries will be closing its City Dock Public Boat Landing on Sophia Street in Fredericksburg for about two months, but not until after the July 4th holiday, city officials said late Sunday.
The closure was to have begun on Monday and run through Aug. 31 but has been delayed by about a week at the request of city officials so that it is available for use through next weekend, Assistant City Manager Mark Whitley said.
The concrete boat ramps and courtesy piers will be replaced and an Americans with Disabilities Act accessible fishing trail will be built along the shoreline with three stations designed for shoreline fishing.
These activities required the ramp and parking area to be closed.
