Rachal named principal of James Monroe High School

James Monroe High School will have a new principal next year.

At Monday night’s meeting, the Fredericksburg School Board announced that Taneshia H. Rachal would become the head of the high school.

Rachal was recommended by Schools Superintendent David Melton and the School Board unanimously approved the recommendation.

She has been an assistant principal at the school for the past seven years.

She graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A., and a Master of Teaching degree. She also holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Mary Washington and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Rachal has worked in the field of secondary education for 17 years.

Current principal John B. Gordon has been the school’s principal for the past five years.
