Expect traffic delays Monday and Tuesday near UMW

RELATED: See more UMW news

Short-term traffic delays are anticipated on College Avenue in Fredericksburg on Tuesday and Wednesday, between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m., the city’s public works department announced this morning.

The delays will occur between the U.S. 1 and Parcell Street intersections of College Avenue.

The delays are associated with moving oversized equipment to the University of Mary Washington campus for a construction project. Each day will involve three deliveries with slow-moving trucks, which may cause temporary traffic delays.

Traffic on College Avenue may be slowed or stopped for approximately 10 to 15 minutes for each delivery.

Motorists are advised to be on the lookout for flagmen directing traffic while deliveries are in progress. Augustine and Stafford Avenues may be used as alternate routes around any traffic delays.
