Fredericksburg’s annual spring cleanup starts Monday

springcleaningCommunity Cleanup Week starts on Monday and runs through Friday. 

Special containers will be placed around the city to help residents and businesses spruce up their sites, yards and neighborhoods.

People can take furniture, tires, appliances, scrap materials and brush from yards to the collection sites.

Anyone wanting an appliance picked up should call 540/372-1023 to schedule it by 4 p.m. on Monday. Appliances will only be picked up on Tuesday.

Household trash, paint and hazardous materials should not be placed in the containers. The next Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day will be held June 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Eskimo Hill Regional Landfill in Stafford County.

Following is a list of container locations throughout the city for next week.

  • Summit Street and Airport Avenue in Mayfield;
  • The 1400 block of Kenmore Avenue beside Cossey Botanical Park;
  • Freedom Lane in the gravel lot between VFW Post 3103 and the Falmouth Bridge;
  • The Belman Road Recycling Center, 1200 Belman Road;
  • Altoona Drive at the Sam Perry Fire House;
  • On Rappahannock Avenue at Payne Street;
  • Braehead Woods near Meade Court.
