Fredericksburg stabbing story has changed to drug deal gone bad

BY PAMELA GOULD / THE FREE LANCE–STAR

A 34-year-old Stafford County man was stabbed in the leg about 5:15 p.m. Monday in what apparently started as  a drug transaction,  Fredericksburg Police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said.

The Stafford man met an unknown man behind the former Wonder Bread building on Powhatan Street shortly after 5 p.m. to buy narcotics, Bledsoe said.

When the deal went bad, the two got into a fight, the first man was stabbed and the second man fled. The Stafford man was taken to Mary Washington Hospital where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury, Bledsoe said.

The Stafford man originally reported that he was at an ATM machine in the Eagle Village shopping center and was injured in a robbery attempt. While investigating the incident, the man told the second version of events, Bledsoe said.

The man who did the stabbing is described as a white male, standing 5 feet 11 with a stocky build, bald and with a goatee. He was wearing earrings in both ears, a tan hoodie and jeans.

He was last seen running from the area of the Wonder Bread building. Anyone with information is asked to call Fredericksburg Police at 540/373-3122.
