Slots for Historic Half in Fredericksburg filling fast

historichalflogo_webPeople have been racing to the online registration for the Marine Corps Historic Half, spokeswoman Tami Faram just told me.

Within 24 hours, nearly 3,000 people had registered for the May 18 race that takes place in Fredericksburg.

Registration for other events associated with the Marine Corps Marathon sold out in record time yesterday.

The slots for the Marine Corps 17.75K in Prince William County sold out in nine minutes, Faram said. And the 2,000 spots for the active duty and reservists for the full Marine Corps Marathon sold out in an hour.

The 17.75 K was open to 1,775 runners. The race takes place April 12 at Prince William Forest Park. Runners who complete the race qualify for the full marathon on Oct. 26. They have until midnight on April 14 to register using their guaranteed access card.

Regular registration for the full marathon opens at noon on Sunday and closes at midnight on March 15. Once general registration closes, people who registered through that process will be part of an electronic lottery to fill the race slots.

Registration remains open for the Marine Corps Historic Half, the Historic 10K and the Semper Fred 5K, all held in Fredericksburg on May 18.

Register online for all races.
