Virginia Central Railway Trail project progressing

The second section of the Virginia Central Railway Trail in Fredericksburg ends at this spot, at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Kings Mill Drive.

The Virginia Central Railway Trail in Fredericksburg is making progress but the first two segments won’t be finished by year’s end as Public Works Director Doug Fawcett had hoped.

However, the three sections the city has funding for should be finished by the end of next summer.

The trail begins at Essex Street in downtown Fredericksburg, travels essentially parallel to Lafayette Boulevard to the Blue and Gray Parkway and then across the parkway, onto Alum Spring Road and behind Alum Spring Park to U.S. 1.

I’ll have more details on the project’s progress and its impact on traffic soon.
