Fredericksburg Christmas parade needs volunteers
Archived footage from last year’s Jaycees Christmas Parade in downtown Fredericksburg.
The Fredericksburg Jaycees Christmas Parade needs 20 more volunteers by Monday to meet the need for this year’s event on Dec. 7.
Parade co-chairwoman Jennifer Adkins said that even the threat of not having a parade hasn’t prompted people to step forward.
She said she has reached out to the 97 groups that are participating in the parade to solicit volunteers but said no one from them has come forward.
“We have stressed, if we don’t get the volunteers, the parade might not happen but we’ve not gotten one person to help,” Adkins said.
Volunteers would work from 2 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 7, receive training that day, and would receive free food and beverages afterward, Adkins said.
The volunteers also help a worthy cause, she said. Money raised through the parade will be used to take about 25 local children shopping for Christmas and provide them with a gift card for food.
Anyone interested in volunteering should email Adkins at: email@example.com.
The Fredericksburg Jaycees Christmas Parade is free and starts at 5:30 p.m.
The route travels along Caroline, Amelia and Princess Anne streets.
