Dixon Pool’s Soggy Doggy Swim is this Friday from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Check out the original doggy paddle. Prepare to get wet for a canine cause. The fourth annual end-of-summer event benefits the Fredericksburg Regional SPCA.
The concession stand will be open and T-shirts will be on sale for dogs and humans.
It’s free to watch but there’s a $5 fee for up to two dogs.
Registration forms are available at the pool, at the Dorothy Hart Community Center, 408 Canal St., and at several dog-friendly locations in the region including the Fredericksburg Regional SPCA at 10819 Courthouse Road in Spotsylvania, Dog Krazy at 307 William St. in downtown Fredericksburg, Jocelyn’s Pawsitively Purrfect at 36 Debruen Lane in Stafford and Ferry Farm Animal Clinic at 386 Kings Highway in Stafford.
Dog owners are encouraged to register in advance and must bring a rabies certificate and proof of a distemper vaccination.
The event is open to city and non-city residents. More than 100 dogs and nearly 200 people are expected.
