First public hearing on stadium planned for Sept. 25

The city of Fredericksburg is starting to schedule the steps needed to take the proposed stadium in Celebrate Virginia South to full approval.

On Sept. 24, two issues will be on the agenda for the City Council meeting and on Sept. 25, a public hearing will be held at the Planning Commission meeting. There, people can weigh in on the proposed amendments to the city’s Comprehensive Plan and Capital Improvements Plan, both of which need to be modified because of the plan for the city to fund an 1,800-space parking lot.

The owners of the Hagerstown Suns minor league baseball team and executives with New Jersey-based Diamond Nation hope to build a multipurpose stadium in Celebrate Virginia South. The stadium would be privately financed.

Check out today’s full report on the steps in the approval process just  scheduled.
