Fredericksburg reps will hold negotiating meeting on baseball on Tuesday
Fredericksburg officials are scheduled to meet Tuesday with ownership of the Hagerstown Suns to see whether a deal can be crafted that’s acceptable to city residents for bringing minor league baseball to a site in Celebrate Virginia South.
Reporter Bill Freehling reports today that efforts are under way for a marked change in the original proposal, which would have had the city bearing the brunt of financing, chiefly the entire amount for the roughly $30 million stadium.
The city’s negotiators are council members Fred Howe and Brad Ellis and City Manager Bev Cameron. They are negotiating with Bruce Quinn, principal owner of the Hagerstown Suns, which is the Class A affiliate of the Washington Nationals.
