More on the doggie Easter egg hunt
I spoke with JoAnne Jones from the city’s Parks and Recreation Department this morning and got a few more details on the Easter egg hunt for dogs next weekend.
The hunt will be Sat., March 23 at 1:30 p.m. at Kenmore Memorial Park (on the corner of Kenmore and Mary Ball).
Treats such as biscuits, balls, toys and food and other things will be hidden for the dogs to find. The owners will collect the things in a basket as the dogs find them. There will also be some golden eggs hidden, and when they are turned in, the owner will get a whole basket of treats for their dog. Anything the dogs touch or sniff will be fair game, Jones said.
It’s $5 for every two dogs to participate (but if you have one dog, it’s also $5) and half the proceeds will go to the SPCA.
There will be a separate area for pups under 20 weeks old.
Registration in advance is not required (but preferred) but owners can register their dogs the same day as the event.
The dogs should be kept on their leashes during the event.
