Non-profit art organizations in the city may have a chance to win some money from the city and the state.
The Fredericksburg Arts Commission is seeking applicants for the Government Challenge Grant.
The grant is through the Virginia Commission for the Arts. The commission will match up to $5,000 for each locality, and the city will match it.
Applicants will be evaluated by the city’s Arts Commission based on their overall contribution to arts in the city. Those meeting the minimum requirements are accepted into the program and the monies are split between the qualifying groups.
Here is the application to submit to the city. Completed applications should be returned by close of business on Feb. 22 to Julie Perry. They can be emailed to her at japerry@fredericksburgva.gov or dropped off at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center at 706 Caroline St.
The Fredericksburg Arts Commission will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the second floor conference room of City Hall, at 715 Princess Anne St. The meeting, which is open to the public, will cover several topics, including the grants. Here’s the agenda.
