The Fredericksburg Dog Fair will take over downtown this weekend.
This Saturday marks the fourth year for the downtown Fredericksburg event, which will kick off at 9:45 a.m. with a costumed dog parade from Maury stadium to the Riverfront Park. (Read more about the event here.)
There will be street closures from 5 a.m to 5 p.m. Saturday on the 600 and 700 blocks of Sophia Street, the 100 block Charlotte Street and the 100 block of Hanover Street.
Watch for short rolling closures beginning at 9:45am on the parade route (George Street, Prince Edward Street, Wolfe Street and Caroline Street) from Maury Field to Riverside Park.
Here’s a map of the parade route.
Another event going on downtown Saturday will be the Fall Harvest Festival at the famers market at Hurkamp Park. This is one of the First Saturdays events from the Parks and Recreation department.
There will be a pumpkin patch, moonbounce, children’s activities, face painting, pie contest, and a pumpkin carving contest. There will also be more vendors than usual as part of the extended farmers market.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
