Planning commission to discuss UDO tomorrow

The Planning commission will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday and will discuss the city’s proposed Unified Development Ordinance.

The ordinance combines the existing zoning and subdivision ordinances into a single plan.

The existing regulations have not been updated in nearly 30 years.

The ordinance was developed by Clarion Associates, but reviewed by a 16-member steering committee made up of stakeholder representatives who are city residents and business owners.

One of the objectives the UDO is to encourage more mixed-use development in the city.

The city held public hearings on the proposed plans back in March, but now the committee is ready to bring a final draft of the ordinance in front of the Planning commission.

You can read more about the proposed ordinance at the Website created to explain more about the UDO and the process that created it.

The meeting will take place in council chambers of City Hall, 715 Princess Anne St.
