Walker-Grant Middle School holding library fundraiser

The Walker-Grant Middle School library in Fredericksburg is trying to raise $1,000 to purchase new books.

According to a message on the school’s Web site, the library budget was “hit hard” last year.

Here’s what the message says:

“Our students love to read!  Unfortunately, last year our library budget was hit hard.  Typically, after you purchase a hard-back fiction book and process it, it can range from fifteen to thirty dollars.  Clearly, this can get pretty pricey and our budget depletes quickly!  Our solution is to find other means to raise money for popular young adult literature that will keep our students’ interests and excitement in reading!  With your help, we can reach our goal of $1,000.00 and put much-desired books in the hands of our students.  We teachers and staff at Walker Grant Middle School applaud your efforts in helping our literacy achievement. Thank you!”

The fundraiser will end Nov. 1.
