The mural project on the Bike Works building right near the Chatham Bridge has started taking shape.
Local artist Mirinda Reynolds is heading up the project, with the help of artists Carol Coffman and Troy Howell. She also has a team of five high school art students helping her.
The project is funded by the Fredericksburg Arts Commission and the City Council– making it, essentially, the city’s first public art project. The mural will look like a vintage postcard. The picture will be of a woman on a bike looking toward the city from Chatham Manor.
Reynolds said the vines have been cleared off the wall and the team has started painting. She expects the project to take the month of August to complete.
