University of Mary Washington Foundation to add parking lot for students and faculty

The Fredericksburg Planning Commission Wednesday night approved a  special-use permit for the University of Mary Washington Foundation to build a faculty and student parking lot at 1213, 1215 and1217 Thornton St. and1214 Powhatan St.

Two structures will be razed and 47 parking spaces will be put in.

The commission also gave the Foundation permission to reduce the required amount of landscaping for the lot from 30 percent to 15 percent.
