Paxson and Quinn release smartphone apps

Mayoral candidate Matt Paxson and City Council candidate Paul Quinn have released smartphone apps for their campaigns.

The apps are available on Android devices and will soon be available on iPhones, according to press releases from the two campaigns.

“I’ve been campaigning on a platform that includes modernizing the way our city does business, and my campaign chose to utilize a smart phone app to help demonstrate new and modern ways elected officials and local government departments can communicate with citizens, tourists and anyone interested in the business of Fredericksburg,” Quinn said in a statement.

“We wanted to demonstrate now how a Paxson administration will utilize technology. We will use smart phone applications, social media and other modern forms of communication to promote Fredericksburg and better serve citizens,” Paxson said in a statement.

Paxson will face Fred Howe III and Mary Katherine Greenlaw in the mayor’s race and Quinn will face Kerry Devine, Roy McAfee and Matt Kelly in the at large city council race on May 1.

All seven candidates will speak at a forum at James Monroe High School on Wednesday.
