Re-assessment notices delayed

Instead of Friday, re-assessment notices for Fredericksburg residents will go out Monday, April 2, said Lois Jacob, Fredericksburg’s Commissioner of the Revenue, in an email this afternoon.

At last night’s City Council meeting, assessor Fred Pearson explained the slight drop in property values in the city.

Real-estate assessment values may increase or decrease for  a variety of reasons, including changes in economic conditions, structural changes, land divisions, and rezonings.

Residents who believe that their property has been incorrectly assessed can appeal an assessment.

The final date to call and schedule an appeal before the assessor is now Friday, April 20

Call 540/372-1207 to schedule an appointment or visit the city’s website for more information.
