Spring cleanup in the city

Since tomorrow is the first day of Spring, the city isn’t wasting any time encouraging residents and businesses to begin their spring cleaning.

April 2-6 will be “Community Pride Week” and there will be several locations that will host collections of unwanted items. The following locations will accept furniture, tires, appliances, brush, scrap materials but NOT household trash, paint or other hazardous materials.

Summit Street and Airport Avenue (Mayfield)

Old Water Treatment Plant (1505 Kenmore Ave.)

Riverside Drive at Fall Hill Avenue

Recycling Center (1200 Belman Rd.)

Shepherd Street (905 Lafayette Blvd., behind 7-11)

Altoona Drive (Sam Perry Fire House)

Rappahannock Avenue

Braehead Woods (near Mead Court)

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12, Eskimo Hill Regional Landfill in Stafford County will have a household hazardous materials collection day.

April 3 will be appliance pickup day. To request an appliance pickup, call 540/372-1023.
