The City Council will hold a work session and meeting tonight

Fredericksburg’s City Council is slated to have two meetings tonight: a work session at 5:30 p.m. and a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m.

According to the agenda released last week, the council will hear a presentation of three mapping options for redistricting that would bring the city’s four wards into compliance with federal and state voting requirements.

The meeting is at 5:30 in the conference room upstairs in City Hall. You can view the agenda for yourself here.

I’ve been told that in the regular meeting the topic of of the demolition of the house at 1407 Caroline Street (and the discussion that’s followed it) will come up. Other things on the agenda:

Many of the actions that passed on first reading last meeting (for example, the ordinance providing a special order for a general property reassessment effective July 1, 2012; and an ordinance amending alarm permit regulations) will come up for second reading.

There are two nominees for the Wall of Honor: Claude T. “Bill” Parcel, Jr. and Rev. Robert “Dr.Bob” F. Caverlee.

There are appointments to two different boards: David Vaughn is up to be reappointed for a three-year-term ending June 30, 2014 to the Rappahannock Community Services Board. There are two vacancies on the Clean and Green Commission, for Wards 1 and 3. Patricia Chen has submitted an application for Ward 3, but there are no applications for Ward 1.

There’s also a closed sesssion set for the end of the meeting regarding the Calvary Christian Center v. City of Fredericksburg lawsuit. The council will aslo discuss the performance evaluations of the city manager, city attorney and clerk of courncil.

You can see the entire agenda for yourself here.

The meetings will be at 715 Princess Anne Street (City Hall).
