Powhatan Park playground is looking good
The playground the city added to corner of Powhatan Street and Cowan Blvd. is taking shape. The playground itself has been built, landscaping has been installed and a trail dividing the park is in place. It will soon have a split rail fence surrounding the ourter edges, complete with black chain link fence to prevent balls from rolling out into the street. A dozen trees will be planted, thanks to Tree Fredericksburg and an Eagle Scot has taken on the project to install a dry creek bed which will provide a channel for rain water, according to the city manager’s report. More benches and trash receptacles will be installed once the parking area and trail have been paved.
I went to visit the playground today and met six-year-old Nevea Russell (in the photo below). She told me she likes playing on the slide and the rocks part of the playground.
