Fire Department receives grant for rescue draft

Last month, the Fredericksburg Fire Department received a grant of $10,800 from Firehouse Subs for a new rescue raft. The raft will replace the second-hand water rescue raft that had been donated to the city from Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Fire and Rescue.

Firehouse Subs gives out many grants like this through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

The Fire Department’s Regional Hazardous Materials Team also received a $55,000 grant. (this one’s not from Firehouse Subs) It’s administered by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and funded by the 2010 State Homeland Security Grant Program through the National Preparedness Directorate, U.S. Department of Homeland Security. It will be used for Hazardous Materials equipment and training. The city isn’t required to match the grant.
