Earth Day Birthday

In case you didn’t know, today is Earth Day.  The holiday began on April 22, 1970 and was the brainchild of Sen. Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin, an early environmental activist. It’s grown in popularity and is now observed around the world with environmental education and cleanups.

Tomorrow from 11am to 3 p.m. there will be a cleanup of the Rappahannock River at 8:30 a.m at Old Mill Park along with a host of other events put on the Friends of the Rappahannock. You can read more about the events in the area going on in Rusty Dennen’s story here.

Earth Day has always been special to me because it also happens to be my birthday.
