A daily digest of what’s going on in Fredericksburg, and what news from elsewhere is relevant here. Send suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The city will hold a public meeting tonight at 6 p.m. in Council chambers at City Hall to talk about Fredericksburg’s efforts to seek exemption from Department of Justice oversight of its election practices under the federal Voting Rights Act. Read more about this effort here.
Assistant City Manager Mark Whitley said this meeting will have a sort of rolling format, so if you can’t make it exactly at 6 p.m., you can still come anytime before it ends at 7:30 p.m. You can view a presentation that was made about this effort at the City Council’s retreat last fall here.
