City schools are closed today. Be sure to check our weather closings page here before you head out the door today.

Those UMW Eagle logos that were painted onto College Avenue a few weeks ago aren’t holding up so well, reports Jeff Branscome. UMW says the vendor that installed them will be replacing them at no cost when weather conditions are appropriate.

The logos will be a consant maintance problem and
eyesore on College Avenue. They need to removed.
Banners mounted on the attractive lamp posts on the
campus should be installed. UMW used banners for
the celebration of the 100 year history of the school.

Banners would also have to maintained, but I think you are on to something.

I think those look nice and are easier to see than something on the street.

I don’t think the street paintings are an eyesore, and I think it is nice to put the word out about the school, but I think they will show more wear and tear than the university would like.

Why not logos of city council members on the pavement in front of city hall?

You kiddin?! They’re supposed to make the town look better, not uglier.
