A daily digest of what’s going on in Fredericksburg, and what news from elsewhere is relevant here. Send suggestions to email@example.com.
I was jogging up U.S 1 yesterday afternoon, feeling sorry for all the weary travelers stuck in their cars waiting to cross the Falmouth Bridge, when I turned onto College Avenue and found another, smaller traffic jam. It was a line of cars waiting to pass through the one-lane traffic on the avenue that allowed the University of Mary Washington to paint their eagle mascot at various locations along the road. Kelly Hannon has a picture of the logos on her blog. When we posted this photo on the Fredericksburg.com Facebook page, we got all kinds of responses. Some people wondered whether it was un-American to drive over an eagle (Somebody call Stephen Colbert!). Others just thought the whole thing was a waste of money. Feel free to share your thoughts on the logos as you get a chance to see them for yourself.
A couple’s move to Fredericksburg will be featured on HGTV this spring. Camera crews from the cable channel’s “My First Sale” have been following a Stafford County couple around for the past few months as they try to sell their home in the county to move to the city’s Preserve at Smith Run neighborhood. Edie Gross has the details here.
