City Beat takes a break

Dear readers,

City Beat will be dark for the next six months as I take maternity leave. In the meantime, transportation reporter Kelly Hannon will be working two beats–the roads and City Hall–for the paper and will be blogging at her On the Road blog, which will become your temporary source for city-related blog posts.

There will be a lot going on this fall, including discussions about which direction to take in building new courts facilities and Kalahari Resorts Oct. 15 deadline to sell the tax-exempt portion of its bond issue. I’ll be back in February to pick up the story, just in time for budget talks to start (So please dont take me out of your bookmarks or RSS feeds–Im coming back!).

This blog has been around for three and a half years now, and I want to thank you all for reading, commenting and sending e-mails that have helped me understand what questions I haven’t considered, and what perspectives residents from different backgrounds bring to city issues.

I look forward to continuing the conversation after the start of the new year.
