Prost! from Schwetzingen

As you can read in today’s Spotsylvania & City Extra section, Mayor Tom Tomzak and a delegation from Fredericksburg visited Schwetzingen, a small town in Germany, for about a week last month. On the trip, the mayor signed a letter of intent to pursue a sister-city relationship with this town. The city has now completely stopped funding sister-city organizations (Fredericksburg also has partnerships with Frejus, France, and Princes Town, Ghana), so Tomzak has repeatedly pointed out that this will have to be a non-government-supported endeavor.

Anyway, here’s a photograph of the city delegation members raising a glass with their new German friends.

Ah, Schwetzingen, historic home of the Schwety family, makers of world famous weiners.

This would be a great movie for both cities, and I love them both. I hope this goes through.
