Our coverage of the 2010 City Council and School Board elections will run later this week, or possibly this weekend. We’ll look at all the potential new faces on City Council–Ward 3 candidate Fred Howe and Ward 4 write-in candidates Shawn Lawrence and John White. We’ll also tell you about the only contested race in this election with real names on the ballot–the Ward 3 School Board race, where Jannan Holmes is challenging 18-year incumbent Janice Walsh. In the meantime, while there are no public forums scheduled around this election, there will be a chance to hear Walsh and Holmes talk about what they want to do. Both women will be guests on Ward 3 City Councilman Matt Kelly’s radio show on WFVA between now and the May 4 election. Kelly reports that Walsh will be on tomorrow’s show, and Holmes will be on next Monday, May 3. Kelly is not seeking another term in his seat, but he will be deciding the schools’ funding level when the council votes as early as tomorrow to approve its budget for next year, so the candidates could have as many questions for Kelly as Kelly has for them. If you want to ask some questions, you can call into the show. Find out how to do that here.
