The Silver Cos. have unveiled their latest idea for the Fredericksburg Hardware property: 19 high-end townhomes, and possibly a four-story mixed-use commercial building. Read Cathy Jett’s report here, and read Bill Freehling’s report on how that part of the housing market has performed lately here.

The deadline to mail in your census form passed last Friday. Fredericksburg so far is up to 70 percent participation in the census, which is just one percentage point lower than the city’s final participation rate in 2000. Census takers will start visiting households May 1, so that number is likely to rise.
