Matt Kelly’s radio career
Councilman Matt Kelly this week started hosting AM1230′s WFVA Town Hall show. Kelly is on 1230 AM every morning from 8 to 9 a.m. with a different guest. So far, his guests have included ACLU Executive Director Kent Willis and Del. Mark Cole.
Tomorrow, Kelly will host Mayor Tom Tomzak. He said he wants to talk with the mayor about the ongoing city budget deliberations, plans for a new courthouse (a topic on which Kelly has often been alone as the loudest voice urging the city to wait on this $40 million project) and the lack of interest in this year’s City Council elections. The pair will also be taking calls from the public, so who knows? This discussion could be steered toward the bench in front of the visitors center at any moment.
Speaking of the council elections, they’ve officially been deemed too boring for a forum by at least one local group. The Rappahannock Bloggers Forum, which held some forums in last year’s Spotsylvania and Stafford elections, has said it won’t bother with the 2010 city elections.
Don’t forget, though, that there is one contested seat in May with actual human beings on the ballot. The Ward 3 School Board seat is a race between incumbent Janice Walsh and challenger Jannan Holmes.
