Planning Commission meets today at 4 p.m. in City Hall. Commissioners could issue a recommendation on the proposed Haven apartment complex planned for Celebrate Virginia. At issue, as you can read in this story, is whether the Haven should be allowed to be gated. Fredericksburg’s Comprehensive Plan says there are to be no gated communities built in the city. Read city resident Bea Paolucci’s letter on the matter here.

Construction on the UMW pedestrian bridge over U.S. 1 will cause the right lane of southbound U.S. 1 to be closed starting today and lasting through mid-April. The closure is in effect between Mary Washington Boulevard and College Avenue. The lane will re-open on the weekends. See the city’s notice on this here.
