City Council meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. First budget work session of the year is at 6 p.m. upstairs. On the agenda: incentives for the Bavarian Chef, which plans to locate in the old train station.

The Surgical Center & Associates of Central Virginia will break ground on its new location in the city (moving from Stafford County) today at noon on Dixon Street, just past Dixon Park. The Surgi-Center received a $50,000 grant from the city’s Economic Development Authority toward the estimated $181,000 it will have to pay in permit and development fees. The facility could bring 100 jobs and about $284,000 in annual tax revenue to the city.
