Morning Buzz has been on pause for the past few days because, you know, sometimes work just gets in the way of a good Buzz. It should return next week. In the meantime, here are a few tidbits.
Taxable sales in this region were down 2.5 percent in 2009, reports Bill Freehling. That should be no surprise, but city residents should be aware that Fredericksburg has borne the brunt of that decline. Freehling reports that Fredericksburg has lost about $2.4 million in tax revenue since 2006. Again, if you’ve followed city budget discussions over the past few years, this is not news to you.
If you want to talk about the budget, or really, anything else the City Council is doing, Brad Ellis is holding a public meeting tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the downtown library.
