Morning Buzz — Sept. 30, 2009

A daily digest of what’s going on in Fredericksburg, and what news from elsewhere is relevant here. Send suggestions to ebattle@freelancestar.com.

Mixed use. The Planning Commission has a work session tonight to talk about mixed-use zoning rules for the residential areas around downtown, along with the Princess Anne and Lafayette Boulevard corridors, which are considered downtown gateways. These are all areas that were identified for redevelopment in the JumpStart plan.

Stories. Every Tuesday, we put out the City and Spotsylvania Extra (If you live in Stafford, you get the Stafford Extra.) I have to write a weekly story for this section, and often that story ends up being something really bureaucratic (some might say boring) about what’s going on in City Hall on Tuesday night. But since this is a community section, I’d rather fill it with stories about people in Fredericksburg who have interesting stories to tell and aren’t necessarily in the spotlight very much. If you know of a good story, give me a buzz.
