Say goodbye to the Wings on the Water building this weekend if you’ve grown attached to it. The city recently awarded a contract to Collins Contracting Company for $86,445 for the interim work for the proposed riverfront park, and I’m told that work should begin Monday with the demolition of the Wings building.

Don’t forget that the intersection of Lafayette Boulevard and Kenmore Avenue closed as of yesterday for sewer work. See the detour map here

Hugh Mercer Elementary School is the only school in our area to receive money for classroom supplies through the Walmart Foundation’s Teacher Rewards program. The program will distribute 10 $100 Walmart gift cards to teachers at each school it partners with. The cards are meant to help with the costs teachers often bear out of their own pockets to buy school supplies.
