“Loft” space leased by Sunken Well owners

The owners of the Sunken Well Tavern on Littlepage Street have signed a lease to open a second restaurant at 1005 Princess Anne St., which is the former home of The Loft and Frederick’s restaurant. Steve Cameli, who co-owns the Sunken Well with fellow UMW grad Paul Stoddard, said they are still working out the details of their restaurant concept, but they have applied for an ABC license under the name, "Holy Cow."

Cameli said this would be a second restaurant for the pair, meaning the Sunken Well Tavern will stay open. He also said they plan to resume using the second floor of the building as a local music venue.

Why are they opening up another one? It amazes me how many businesses over expand. My bet is that they go under within 6 months.

I’ve had only positive experience at Sunken Well, and as a fan of downtown, I’m wishing them every success.

Very excited for this place! This should be a great addition to the Sunken Well. I wish them the best of luck
