Live coverage of budget hearing

We’ve got live coverage tonight here on City Beat of Fredericksburg’s budget hearing, so that you can keep your TV tuned to American Idol, or whatever it is that’s on Tuesdays now. Meeting starts in about five minutes, and council chambers is rapidly filling up.

I see representatives from many nonprofits here tonight. Although the total allocations for all nonprofits, government and nongovernment, make up only about 5 percent of the budget, these agencies usually take up most of the time at the budget hearings, and council members did spend a while at their 40-minute budget work session this evening talking about them (no decisions yet).

For reference, here is the part of the budget that lists all of the recommendations for agency funding. And for an overview, here is the story we ran today on the budget hearing.
