I honestly didn’t think I was going to make it off the wall outside the entrance to Council Chambers on Hanover Street tonight without hitting the ground. There was a pretty solid sheet of ice on the sidewalk, even though the roads were cleared. With a laptop and packed purse hanging off me, I didn’t exactly have ideal weight distribution for walking on ice.

After I’d been standing there for a few minutes, a public facilities truck pulled up, and a worker who introduced himself as Bill spread enough salt and sand down my way to get me to the road (after he slid a few feet down the sidewalk himself).

Bill’s probably still out in the cold de-icing city sidewalks, but thanks to him, I’m warm at home. So thanks, Bill!
