The “northern-ish” town of Fredericksburg?
That’s what a reporter for the online magazine Slate wrote after he came to Fredericksburg for a few hours to cover the Sarah Palin rally on Monday. Christopher Beam uses quotes from the rally in the city–and from local political figures–in his column about Virginia as a swing state.
He qualifies his characterization of Fredericksburg as "northern-ish" with this tidbit:
"Don’t call us north," pleaded a McCain supporter. "Please don’t call us north."
So what do y’all think, have we unknowingly moved North? Or did Mr. Beam maybe need to spend a little more time outside of the press pen at the Palin rally?
By the way, I understand that Fredericksburg is to be featured in an upcoming issue of Southern Living.
