It’s a dead newsroom this morning, and things aren’t much different around downtown. Newspapers have piled up in front of City Hall and the School Board building, and walking around, about the only activities I stumbled upon were city workers setting up for First Night and Kyle Snyder doing demo work for Kybecca’s latest project at William and Charles streets: a wine bar with outdoor seating under a heat-radiating awning (more on that later).
I took one last look at the corner of Charlotte and Caroline streets to see if anyone had moved dirt for the hotel that is supposed to open there in March 2009, but it doesn’t look like anyone has to worry about construction there interfering with First Night.
If you’re in a “year-in-review” sort of mood, Matt Kelly has posted a list of 2007 happenings over on his blog. There’s even a poll that asks you to give the City Council a grade.
Thanks to all who’ve read this blog this year. In 2008, I’m hoping to make City Beat a little livelier, with more photos, more video, more documents and, if you’re so inclined, more discussion. There sure will be plenty to talk about.
