FRED moves soon
For about two years now, the FRED bus station has been in a temporary headquarters across from Carl’s ice cream on Princess Anne Street. For a while, there wasn’t much activity at its old home on the U.S. 1 Bypass. A weathered sign that read, “GREHYOUND” instead of “GREYHOUND” announced its emptiness until construction crews got to work.
The location will snap back into activity in a little more than a month. The first bus is scheduled to leave the new transit hub Oct. 29. Folks who want a sneak peek at FRED’s new digs can come to a community open house on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The official dedication (apparently an invitation-only event) will happen Oct. 25 at 5:30 p.m.
