Teachers more likely to work second jobs
A new report shows that teachers are more likely to hold a second–or third–job. The National Center for Education Statistics found that about 23 percent of beginning teachers work multiple jobs, compared to 15 percent of non-teachers.
This comes up in area budget discussions all the time–as localities try to offer competitive wages to starting teachers or to give raises each year.
So I’d love to know more about how this affects local teachers–do you work a second job? If so, what do you do? When and why do you work a second job? Let me know: 540/735-1973 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
