Stafford students unite to fight hunger

Marching bands are usually fiercely competitive. But next month, the musicians in the five marching bands from Stafford County schools will be fiercely united to fight hunger locally.

Marching Band students across Stafford County will BAND Together on Nov. 5, 7 p.m. on the football field of Mountain View High School. Gates and concession stands will open at 5:30 p.m.

Admission will be one nonperishable food item or money for the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank. Last year, this event netted 3,500 pounds of food and more than $2,000 in donations. The cash alone provided 6,000 meals for hungry people in the area. And band members hope to gather even more food this year.  As we reported recently, the need is definitely there.
