Let them eat cake
School Board meetings aren’t usually the most festive affairs. But tonight, the King George County School Board includes cake and punch and presents.
Chairman Mike Rose gave a gift to outgoing interim superintendent Stanley Jones: a ceramic container painted with “King George” on it.
And he gave incoming superintendent Robert Benson a pictoral history of King George County. Benson takes over the reigns of King George schools on July 1.
Jones praised the board members, saying “Their hearts are in the right places, it’s all about children. I truly enjoy what I do, I’ve enjoyed being here…it’s been a wonderful experience and I’ll take something and move to my next step.”
Jones will become interim superintendent of Petersburg schools on July 2.
After the presents, the School Board offered cake and punch to everyone in the room.
