Free Lance-Star reporter Amy Umble covers Stafford County schools and other education issues
Technology and education
Did you catch today’s story about first-grade bloggers at Fredericksburg Academy?
That story sparked my curiosity about how schools use technology with the younger crowd. I got such a great response to my questions that we’re working on a separate story. So if you have any great tales to share about young students and technology–blogs, Skype, iPads, please share them. aumble@freelancestar.com or 540/735-1973.
In somewhat related news, a new study has found that children 8 months to 8 years are exposed to about four hours of television each day. Some studies find that too much TV leads to a lack of focus among students, but this blog post from Education Week also links to some interesting research on the benefits of interactive media and video conferencing with children.
