Bus 52 drops by UMW
Bus 52, which is traveling the country to document inspiring stories, stopped by the University of Mary Washington today.
Steven Hascher of Bus 52 filmed a professor, an alumna and two students as they talked about UMW’s “$2 a Day Challenge,” which has students live on $2 a day for a week.
Economics Professor Shawn Humphrey started the project in 2007 to raise money for business loans for poor entrepreneurs in developing countries.
Bus 52 founder Robert Gelb, 23, called the project inspirational.
“I think it’s quite jarring for someone who hasn’t been involved in something like this just to see the amount of passion…in their eyes,” he said. “It’s an amazing thing that they’re doing. It would just be great if it could be replicated all over the place.”
