Colonial Forge has new principal
An assistant principal at a Loudon County high school has been named Colonial Forge High School’s new principal.
The Stafford County School Board tonight appointed Michael Byers, 38, to the position effective Jan. 3.
Byers has been an assistant principal at Briar Woods High School since it opened in 2005. He said in an interview yesterday that Colonial Forge’s reputation attracted him to the job.
“It’s a real honor…to become a part of such a great team,” he said.
Byers began his career in 1995 as a physical education teacher in Manassas City. He was also the division’s summer school coordinator for four years and, in 2004, was promoted to assistant principal at Osbourn High School.
He has a master’s degree from Virginia Tech.
